Peter Cox, D.C.

Dr.  Peter Cox is known for his ability to diagnose the cause of a problem, instead of just treating its symptoms. His unique patient-focused and technology-driven practice is getting phenomenal results helping people with cases others believe are hopeless and getting people back on their feet faster.

No stranger to pain and discomfort, Dr. Cox became a chiropractor after having low-back problems due to extensive physical training. Cox was a national-champion fencer at Penn State University and a four time all-American when he injured himself while training for the U.S. Olympic team. Chiropractic care saved him from back surgery, and allowed him to compete as the #1 U.S. sabre fencer in the 1996 Olympic Games- that same year he graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College.

Cox opened Dynamic Health Center in 1997 and has seen it grow every year since. Dr. Cox was also recently recognized nationally by being selected as one of the ten chiropractors for the PGA (Professional Golf Association) and Senior PGA Tours due to his application of knowledge, equipment, and treatment approach.

If you are in pain, have a problem no one else can solve, want a second opinion, or just want to improve your posture and overall health, Dr. Cox can help. After a complete examination, he will explain any medical problems and recommended treatment plans in terms that are easy to understand. Bryan Jackson, P.T., D.C.

In 1997, Bryan Jackson knew very little about chiropractic.  He was working as a physical therapist in Connecticut , following his graduation from Quinnipiac University with a B.S. in Physical Therapy.

But a friend began talking with him about chiropractic methods.  Jackson researched the field and concluded, to his shock, that chiropractic could be more effective for certain conditions than physical therapy.  He felt he owed it to his patients to provide a variety of treatments and returned to school, earning a Doctor of Chiropractic degree summa cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport , Iowa.

Today, Jackson is both a chiropractor and physical therapist.  His blend of expertise fits well at Dynamic Health Center , a clinic that offers many types of treatments and equipment to bring patients to their optimum health.  My educational background allows me to look at cases from a dual perspective, he says.  I have two different but complementary fields to draw upon.

Jackson grew up in Scarborough , Maine and first became interested in a career in healthcare as a teenager. He briefly considered becoming an engineer, but wanted a career that was more oriented towards people.

He and his wife moved to the Charlotte area two years ago, enjoying the people, climate, and opportunity here.  Jackson worked at a sports therapy facility in Gastonia before joining Dynamic Health Center .  The practice impressed him in part because he felt he could learn here.  Dynamic Health offers half a dozen pieces of therapeutic equipment that I had not seen before.  That showed me the doctors here were interested in continuous learning.

Away from work, Jackson spends most of his time keeping up with his two daughters. He also enjoys bicycling and playing tennis.

Matthew Hennessy, D.C.

Chiropractic has been a significant part of Dr. Matthew Hennessy's life since a young age. His mother has scoliosis, which goes through very severe cycles; her condition worsened to the point that her hips would lock up, causing her to be bedridden one week out of the month on a regular basis. Once his mother sought chiropractic care, her symptoms eased so much so that, not only was she no longer sporadically bedridden, but she hasn't approached that severity in symptoms since, with continuing regular visits to her chiropractor. After
consultation with her chiropractor, she brought her children in for adjustments for total overall health. Even at age 13, Hennessy relates, "I was amazed at the healing taking place, the community feeling and joy going on, watching people get better."

With a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and a Doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Hennessy is devoted to improving his patients' quality of life. His emphasis on chiropractic as a means toward healing and alleviating symptoms, as well as a means to achieve the body's optimum health is key. The variety of patients he has helped over the course of his career shows the all-encompassing nature of what chiropractic can accomplish: "I'm blessed to have worked with many great patients," says Hennessy. "Patients who couldn't walk in the door, and now walk marathons; with severe gastrointestinal pains who are now functioning normally; babies with misshapen heads at birth who now have a more typical skull shape. The most satisfying thing about chiropractic is working with patients who have been told they could not be helped by other means, and being able to help them, offering them hope."

Dynamic Health Center is a natural fit for a doctor of Dr. Hennessy's abilities. Dr. Peter Cox, Clinic Director, applauds Hennessy's enthusiasm and knowledge, and the extent of his experience within chiropractic. Dr. Cox asserts, "Dr. Hennessy's open-minded, optimistic attitude are necessary tools when dealing with complex chronic disorders. Dynamic Health Center is proud to have Dr. Hennessey and his positive approach toward health care."

Hennessy relocated to Charlotte from Michigan with his wife Laura and son Joshua. He is an avid reader, runner, and very active with his church.

Dr. Darby Simmons

Dr. Darby Simmons had always intended to become a doctor, and she found direction for her goal after her mother was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Following positive results with chiropractic treatment, her mother suggested Dr. Simmons shadow the chiropractor who had assisted her with her symptoms.

“The first patient I saw during that experience had a profound impact on me,” says Dr.
Simmons. The patient, a man with multiple sclerosis, was in such pain that he had to be carried in, unable to walk. Three treatments later, the same man came into the clinic and informed the clinicians that, because of their help, he had walked a mile that day.

With the combined impression of her mother’s improvement in health and the first chiropractic case she assisted with, Dr. Simmons knew chiropractic was the path she wanted to follow. Obtaining her doctorate at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, Dr. Simmons is dedicated to ensuring that all her patients improve their lives as much as that first patient she cared for. Dr. Simmons enjoys working with a full patient spectrum, from birth to the older adult. She Dr. Darby Simmons employs this drive and enthusiasm at Dynamic Health Center, inspired by how the integration
of several clinical methods both complement each other and achieve impressive results.

Dr. Jeffrey E. Matz

A long-time proponent of complete, holistic care, Dr. Matz began his career with a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from Clemson University. His interest in chiropractic is a natural extension of that. “Lifestyle changes toward living a healthier life positively impact your well-being, and participation in chiropractic treatment can also improve your health,” Matz asserts.

Dr. Matz obtained his doctorate of chiropractic as well as his masters in exercise science from Life University in Marietta, GA. He recalls a dentist who came in suffering from numbness in his fingers who, after following his plan of care of therapy and adjustments, was thrilled that a previously scheduled surgery was no longer necessary since the underlying problem had been alleviated. The most rewarding part of his job is seeing the improvement in people’s health because of changes they made in their own lives, with the aid of adjustments and therapy assistance from their chiropractic care provider.

Clinic Director Dr. Peter Cox is impressed with how clearly Dr. Matz recognizes the benefit of Dr. Jeffrey E. Matz and treatment ability for the patient. Dr. Cox affirms, “Understanding the importance of proper nutrition, coupled with chiropractic and physical therapy protocols, allows Dr. Matz to comprehensively oversee a patient’s multi-leveled healthcare concerns.”

To Dr. Matz, his position at Dynamic Health Center is an important factor in his vision of improving people’s quality of life. “Dynamic Health Center has opened my eyes to the effectiveness of incorporating chiropractic and physical therapy in a plan of treatment. Dr. Cox has integrated both in his clinic, and the combined results are overwhelmingly successful,” he says.

John Sherman, M.P.T.

John Sherman was a high school senior in West Palm Beach, Florida, and a promising athlete with a soccer scholarship to Belmont Abbey College.  His future seemed firmly established, until he played a pick-up game with some buddies.

As Sherman defended another player, his foot slipped into a hole.  The other player fell on top of him.  Sherman’s foot turned one way, his body twisted another.  The injury was devastating: his kneecap dislocated, fracturing in several pieces.

Unable to accept his scholarship, Sherman had to learn how to walk and run again.  He spent over a year in physical therapy. That gave him plenty of time to think about how to rebuild his life.  He realized that he was fascinated by the work the physical therapists were doing.  “I loved what they were doing with me, and I wanted to do the same thing for other people,” he says.

Sherman had found his purpose.  He earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees in physical therapy – the latter magna cum laude – from D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York.  Today, patients benefit from his expert, compassionate care at Dynamic Health Center.

“John understands the big picture of what’s necessary to get a patient well, then works each phase of care to get the best result possible,” says clinic director Dr. Peter Cox. “He understands improvement takes time and he’s willing to work at the speed the patient is able to heal.  He’s an excellent listener and superb at relating to patients.  When you meet him, you see he has a sincere, noble purpose.

Sherman previously worked for a rehabilitation center in Baltimore, Maryland.  Of all his cases, he is particularly proud of his results with a patient who had been hit by a bus.  “When the patient first arrived, he was in a wheelchair,” Sherman recalls.  “He had a major concussion and memory loss, and more than 12 fractures across his body.”  Sherman taught him how to walk once more.  “I love having patients discover they can walk and run again, when they thought they’d never be able to do that,” Sherman says.

Sherman values the combination of chiropractic and physical therapy available at Dynamic Health Center, believing it gives patients a holistic approach to healing.  In his free time, he enjoys swimming and riding bikes with his wife and daughter.

Sharon Jackson

Sharon Jackson, General Manager of Dynamic Health Center, has been a vital part of the facility since its inception in 1997. With 22 years of experience in practice management and consulting, she has worked with numerous premier chiropractors across the country. Dr. Cox said that he wanted me to help him reach his goals. I said I would join his team in order to make sure he exceeded them.

This commitment to excellence and vast experience is why Dr. Peter Cox, Clinic Director, personally requested that Jackson join him in launching Dynamic Health. Within a few weeks of accepting the position, Jackson moved from Kansas City, Missouri, her home town, to her new home in Charlotte, eager to begin making Dynamic Health Center the practice it is today. For her, I chose to accept the position at Dynamic Health Center because Dr. Cox and I are in agreement regarding the noble purpose of providing the highest quality of care. There is mutual respect for each other's extraordinary level of integrity and sense of purpose.

I met Sharon Jackson in 1997. Since that day she has been guiding and shaping Dynamic Health Center to be the best diagnostic and treatment facility in the country, says clinic director Dr. Peter Cox. Jackson is wholly committed to helping the patients at Dynamic Health Center. She says, "That's what it's all about, for me. It's every one of the patients."

An avid traveler, Jackson goes back to Missouri often to visit her four children and two grandchildren. When not at the office, she likes to hike and go to the beach, always looking forward to seeing new places and having new adventures.
